In our schedule friendly format, participants will be trained through our comprehensive asynchronous online learning course. (self-paced, best suited to your schedule). Our hybrid learning model consists of two main parts 1) the online learning course and, 2) the live virtual classroom and post practicum. Assignments will be completed to deadlines in order to participate in your Virtual Classroom.
After completing the online learning course you’ll move on to the Practicum. The practicum portion of the program contains three steps:
Step 1: Scheduling and completing your “Live Virtual Classroom” sessions with a Licensed International Loving Touch Trainer. (see bios for trainers)
You will be able to book your Practicum according to your schedule and with the trainer of your choice, in most cases, before you are finished with the online course. In the synchronous portion “Live Virtual Classroom” of your online learning, you will interact with your trainer and other students. This will provide face-to-face discussions, individual and group guidance, stroke technique demonstration and practice, and supportive instruction.
Step 2: Work with 4 families and completing documentation required. Includes SOAP notes and Evaluations.
Step 3: Complete readings and take open-book exam.
In this online course, you will be learning The Loving Touch® Method© of infant/pediatric massage in order to instruct parents/primary caregivers the method of applying massage to their newborns and children through a hands-on demonstration approach with the use of your demonstration doll. Foremost, parents/caregivers will be applying the massage, unless in extenuating circumstances where parent’s may be absent and the instructor has hands-on authority to provide the massage. (MD, RN, PT, OT, LMT licenses for example)
The CIMI online training is presented through Powerpoint video narrations, quizzes, demonstration videos, digital curriculum materials, extensive detailed references and resources. After completing the online portion you will participate in the “Live Virtual Classroom” practicum platform.
The post Practicum portion follows the online training to conclude certification. Participants who complete the online course, live virtual practicum, post-training practicum with open book exam, and successfully pass achieve their Certified Infant Massage Instructors (CIMI®) Certificate. Graduates become a part of the International Registry of CIMI’s through International Loving Touch Foundation Inc. You will have access to the MYCIMI® portal where you can find stroke sheets and other useful resources.
